Story Jam brings you old stories with sharp teeth and wild yowls - tales that are curious about life surviving and thriving in the hive of the city.
Expect Fox-singing, grafitti-inciting and rubbish-rootling in this brand-new show from the duo that brought you Women Who Gave No F*cks.
We live in a big city. We want to tell stories for urban audiences – most of us! - who live surrounded by high-rises, street signs, bright lights and people, people, people. Can we welcome cities into the very bones of the old tales we tell? Can stories lead us to open our eyes and our imaginations to the strangeness, strangers, weeds and wilds of the deeply mysterious city?
Story Jam is a creative collaboration between Alys Torrance and Lucy Lill.
We come from theatre and comedy backgrounds, bringing our love of playful performance to all our events. Both of us make solo shows too.
Story Jam storytelling nights have run since 2012. We also invite other artists onboard for storytelling shows that tour to theatres, festivals and arts centres. Our last touring show, Women Who Gave No F*cks, toured nationally to sell-out audiences. In addition, we work in London communities and schools with charities and cultural organisations, using storytelling to bring families and neighbours together, to promote literacy, engagement with heritage and environment, and just for the joy of hearing and telling stories.
We also lead workshops for storytellers and for the story-curious.
Collaboration is at the heart of all we do – we love to find interesting people and invite them to get stuck in to Story Jam.
